We started the company in 2011 after realizing that learning centers were too expensive and group courses offered by the local Universities weren’t effective for most students. We designed a program that works for all students: a program that meets the individual needs of each student.

Because students learn best in their home environment, we offer convenience by tutoring your student at home. Our tutors are well-trained experts on the ACT who know how to efficiently raise students’ scores.

I have taught English at Lone Peak High School for six years and my brother, John-Charles Terry, teaches Physics and Chemistry in Draper at Corner Canyon High. We founded the company five years ago because there was an obvious need in our community for private, affordable tutoring. At the time, I was in my second year of teaching when I had multiple students asking for tutoring. However, I was currently working at a local learning center. Not only did I find faults with their program, but I also felt bad telling my students to sign up for the program because the cost was so high.

It became obvious that the solution was to start our own program—one that was both effective and affordable. Using our background in ACT tutoring and experience teaching in the classroom, we developed a curriculum that has been extremely effective in helping students reach their full potential. When we started the company, we had two students. We have since grown into a company that helps over 100 students a year improve their ACT scores.

We designed a curriculum that prepares students to reach their potential ACT score. We teach students the content needed to master the exam along with test-taking strategies to improve their accuracy and timing. Because our program is heavily based on students working with real ACT tests, we can assess your student’s strengths as well as areas in which he or she needs extra focus. We also quickly determine which areas your student simply needs to review—something students don’t receive in a classroom setting. Because of the one-on-one set up, your student will be able to improve faster than in a traditional group setting. We schedule two sessions a week for your student: one with an English/Reading tutor and one with a Math/Science tutor. Our program is most successful when students invest in our eight-week program.

While learning centers typically switch tutors on the students, we assign the same two tutors (Math/English) to your student for the entirety of his or her program, ensuring that your student’s needs are met. The consistency of an assigned tutor allows the student to trust in the advice of their tutors because their tutors know their individual needs from firsthand experience. When it comes to increasing ACT scores, we know what we’re doing and have a high success rate.

Anyone who wishes to improve their ACT score – High School students applying to college or college students who need a higher ACT score to enter a specific major/program.

Excellence In-Home Tutoring is available anywhere in Utah and Salt Lake County.

Lessons are typically one-on-one, but group lessons (up to three students) are also available.

As part of our program, our tutors are instructed to never be in a home where the parent is not present. Tutoring is done in an open area in your home that is easily accessible.

Yes. As group sizes increase, the effectiveness of our program decreases. Because of this, we limit our groups to three students.

Our program consists of 4 hours of tutoring every week for the 8 weeks before the next ACT test. 2 hours a week will be spent covering the English and Reading sections, while the other 2 hours will cover Math and Science.

Any age.

Our program is designed to have your student achieve their highest possible score. We have seen students’ scores increase more than 8 points (however we make no guarantee).
